1-2-1 Sessions
We provide 1-to-1 sport psychology support for those who want to improve their mindset, overcome challenges, and perform at their best. We typically support individuals who:
✔ Compete or perform regularly
You’re striving to maximise success and want to build long-term mental skills and performance habits. We’ll work on strategies like goal setting, season planning, managing focus, and identifying the mental skills needed to remove current barriers to performance.
✔ Are recovering from injury or facing a setback
Injuries can take a toll mentally as well as physically. We help athletes set recovery goals, make the most of time away from sport, and build psychological skills to return stronger. Together, we’ll identify triggers, stressors, and mental blocks that may affect future performance and develop strategies to manage them.
✔ Are struggling with performance issues
If performance anxiety, perfectionism, emotional control, or social comparison are holding you back, we’ll work with you to understand these patterns and develop practical tools to manage them. These challenges are common - and with the right support, they can be overcome.
How Does It Work?
Our 1-2-1 sport psychology support is tailored to each athlete, depending on their needs, goals, and level of competition. For amateur athletes, we typically start with around 5–6 sessions, usually spaced fortnightly. This gives you time to reflect, practice techniques, and apply what you’re learning between sessions. For elite or professional athletes, support tends to be more flexible and ongoing, depending on current challenges, competitive schedules, or specific performance goals.
A key part of the process is psychological skills training — such as developing focus, confidence, self-talk, visualisation, relaxation techniques, emotional control, goal setting, and resilience. These skills are practical and directly linked to improving performance under pressure.
We use a gentle, evidence-based approach called ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Training). This helps us explore and acknowledge mental barriers while reconnecting with your values, identity, and purpose in sport and life. ACT is especially effective in sporting environments, where flexibility, focus, and mental resilience are crucial for sustained performance and enjoyment.
